Greene County Children Services to Host Free Movie Screening for National Adoption Month

Elf will be shown at Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs Saturday, December 1

Xenia, Ohio, November 16, 2018 — In celebration of November being National Adoption Month and in anticipation of the coming holiday season, Greene County Children Services will host a special free screening of Elf at the Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs on Saturday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. Anyone interested in learning more about adoption is encouraged to attend, as a variety of information will be available. Children Services foster and adoption caseworkers will be on hand to answer questions, and a local adoptive family will give a brief, informal presentation before the movie.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend the PG-rated movie with their parents or other adult guardian. Everyone, adults and children, will be admitted for free.

“We firmly believe all children need permanent families, no matter how young or old they are,” said Beth Rubin, Director of Greene County Department of Job & Family Services. “We especially need people who are willing to adopt older children, including teens, as well as those willing to adopt siblings.”

Since its release in 2003, Elf has become a modern Christmas classic. Starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, and Bob Newhart, Elf tells the story of Buddy, a human “adopted” by Santa Claus as a baby and raised at the North Pole as an Elf. As an adult, he decides to go to New York City in search of his biological family, with hilarious results.

The Little Art Theatre is located at 247 Xenia Ave in Yellow Springs.
