FIRST FRIDAYS FUN CONTINUES INTO JUNE

Xenia First Friday’s event on June 2 will feature over 60 one-of-a-kind arts and crafts vendors, delectable eats, and unique entertainment to bring the diverse Xenia community together in a way only First Fridays can. Please join the fun from 5-9pm, downtown Xenia!

There’s something for everyone to enjoy at multiple locations throughout the night. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us on the courthouse lawn to enjoy live music from Michael Locke and the Repeat Offenders. The band BulletProof will be performing at the Narrow Path Plumbing parking lot on the corner of Second St. and S. Detroit St. Bible Missionary Baptist Church Band and Praise Team will have special performances starting at 7pm, at the City Administration Building on E. Main St.

We are excited to have the popular Euro Bungee jump at S. Detroit St! Don’t miss Spiderman and Supergirl, as part of the strolling attractions. In addition, we will be featuring yo-yo expert, J.J. Pethtel, juggler and unicycle rider Matt Jergens, the juggling and aerialist duo for Up Down Go and the Amazing Giants stilt walkers.

Many of the streets downtown will be closed to through traffic, making room for the Cruise-In, bouncy houses, a farm animal petting zoo, musical acts, and community groups. This month will also feature; the Bat and Joker Mobiles on S. Detroit St. Along with Batman and Robin, Zilcho the Clown, Magician Dave Davis, DJ Rob Bullen, Caricaturist Dennis Porter, Xenia Bouncy Castle and Party Rental inflatables, Kra-Z Facepainting, and Jungle Island petting zoo, all to help First Fridays deliver a night of great family fun!

Event goers are encouraged to feast upon food and treats from Bette-Juanita Concessions, Cork-N-Bottle, Christian Brothers Meat Co., Dine-N-Dash, Long’s Concessions, Rooters, and Zerkle’s Food Concessions. These vendors will be located at the Second St Food Court, and AHOP Burgers will be located at the Cruise-In.

Additional food locations are: One Bistro on E. Main St, Willie’s Sports Bar and Grille, and Acapulco Mexican Food in Xenia Towne Square, Tables of Contents on S. Detroit St. and Sweets Boutique and Cafe, on E. Second St. Don’t forget to stop by the newest addition to downtown, The Coffee Hub, 61 E. Main St.

Xenia’s downtown contains so much history and exciting tales that only Catherine Wilson, from the Greene County Historical Society, can deliver during the walking tour, which will begin at 6:30pm in front of the courthouse. The caboose will be open at Xenia Station from 5pm-7pm for anyone that is interested in the railroad’s history.

First Fridays Bucks can be purchased at the Kid’s Carnival, located in the Montgomery Insurance & Investments parking lot, and every player wins a prize. The Greene County Library Bookmobile will be located on W. Second St. near the Food and Entertainment Court. While at the food court, enjoy family friendly music from DJ Rob Bullen and K-9 demonstration with Officer Tim Littleton and Crash at 6 and 8 pm. The strongmen of ChristStrength Gym will be doing demonstrations of their almost super human strength at the S. Detroit St. location.

Many of the downtown businesses will be holding specials during the event. The Flower Stop, 57 W. Main St., will have assorted colors of carnations $1 each for their First Friday Flower Happy Hour. While there don’t forget to bid on some of the great silent auction items that are available this month! Sweet’s Boutique, 28 E. Second St., will be featuring street foods from around the world.
