Central State University Becomes One of the First Public Universities in Ohio to Post Expenditures Online for Public Review
Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel announced today that Central State University is one of the first Universities in Ohio to publicly post its spending online in an effort to boost fiscal transparency.
The checkbook level expenditures are posted on OhioCheckbook.com, an initiative through the state treasurer’s office aimed at improving public access to government spending data. Central State’s online checkbook includes more than 7,700 individual transactions that represent more than $17 million of total spending over Fiscal Year 2015. Bowling Green State University also put its checkbook expenditures online.
Curtis Pettis, CSU Vice President for Administration and Finance & CFO, said “Central State University is committed to transparency and we are pleased to be joining BGSU as the first two universities to place their spending on OhioCheckbook.com. “We thank Treasurer Mandel for the chance to make our spending information easily accessible, searchable and user friendly.”
Posting the University’s check-level detail is aligned with one of Central State’s six compelling priorities. That priority focuses on continuously working to create efficient and effective institutional operations.
Treasurer Mandel launched OhioCheckbook.com in December 2014. OhioCheckbook.com displays more than $592 billion in spending over the past nine years.
