Violence Free Futures to Host a Candlelight Vigil to Remember Victims, Survivors and Advocates

Violence Free Futures (VFF) is honored to announce a Candlelight Vigil in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 6:00 PM at The Greene Town Square, a central location that enhances visibility and community engagement.

This vigil aims to raise awareness about domestic violence, honor survivors, and remember those who have lost their lives to domestic violence. The event will feature speeches from elected officials, VFF staff, board members, and two survivors who will courageously share their stories.

Event Details:

  • Date: October 7, 2024
  • Time: 6:00 PM
  • Location: The Greene Town Square

The evening will include:

  • Speakers: Elected officials, VFF staff, board members, and two survivors sharing their personal experiences.
  • Moment of Silence: A collective moment to honor those affected by domestic violence.
  • Candle Lighting: Participants will light candles to symbolize hope and remembrance.
  • Clothesline Project: A display of story-telling t-shirts created by service recipients of the center.

In June, Violence Free Futures proudly opened a new Outreach Campus to better serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This expansion allows VFF to reach more individuals in need, providing critical support and resources.

“We are committed to creating a future free from violence and supporting survivors in their journey towards healing,” said Celeste Hurley, Executive Director of Violence Free Futures. “Our new Outreach Campus is a testament to our dedication to this mission.”

We invite the entire community to join us in this important event. Together, we can raise awareness and show support for those impacted by domestic violence
