Severe Weather Impacts Xenia, Ohio: Cleanup Efforts Underway

The City of Xenia is responding to the severe weather that recently impacted our community, causing significant damage and disruption. Cleanup efforts are beginning today, and we ask residents to remain vigilant and supportive of our crews as they work to restore safety and order to the roads, sidewalks, and public spaces.

Throughout the week, City crews will focus on cleaning right-of-way and public property to ensure public safety. We urge residents to be mindful of the crews in the area. Please do not drive around road closure signs, as there are still downed power lines that pose serious risks. Driving over these lines endangers not only your safety but also that of others. Additionally, please be cautious while moving around your property and out on the roads. The recent heavy rain and winds may have compromised the integrity of trees and root systems, making them unstable.

Road Closures as of October 1, 2024

*Temporary road closures will be occurring as we clean up large debris piles

Official Neighborhood Cleanup Scheduled
Official neighborhood cleanups will commence on Monday, October 7th, at 7 a.m. This timeframe allows private property owners additional time to gather tree limbs and debris for pickup. Please ensure that all items are placed at the curb—not in the street—as crews will only make one pass. Items should be set out the night before (Oct. 6th) the scheduled pickup (Oct. 7th) to avoid missing the service.

Important Restrictions:
• No professionally cut trees or limbs will be accepted during the City’s curbside pickup; services hired for tree removal are responsible for disposing of their debris
• Keep brush piles separate from leaf piles
• Follow standards for brush piles: 8 feet long and 10 inches in diameter

Greene County Environmental Services:
For residents who wish to dispose of debris themselves, Greene County Environmental Services accepts storm debris. Their location is 2145 Greene Way Blvd., Xenia, OH 45385 Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Scam Alert:
The City of Xenia is aware of a scam currently circulating in which a number is calling residents, appearing as AES on caller ID, and inquiring about power restoration. Please do NOT engage with this number. For assistance regarding power outages or restoration, contact AES directly.

We ask that residents reserve 9-1-1 for emergency calls only. For non-emergency assistance, please contact (937)-376-7200.
