CELEBRATE EARLY LITERACY AT THE ANNUAL RAISE A GLASS TO READING IN SUPPORT OF DOLLY PARTON’S IMAGINATION LIBRARY
The Greene County Public Library Foundation will host its annual Raise a Glass to Reading in support of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Tuesday, October 1. Held at Caesar Creek Vineyards, attendees will celebrate early literacy in Greene County.
Purchase of an event ticket funds a Greene County child’s entire five-year Imagination Library membership with 60 age-appropriate books. The event features a catered meal, a glass of local wine, and raffle prizes. “We love the beautiful setting at Caesar Creek Vineyards, the delicious food provided by Grazing Tables by Dana, and most especially, the community fellowship,” said GCPL Foundation President, Molly McHarg. “The real treat at this event is realizing how many people love and support our vision of preparing our children for a successful life.”
“Kids who read succeed,” said Greene County Public Library Executive Director, Karl Colón. “Raise a Glass brings success to the kids and families we serve throughout Greene County, and we’re so grateful for the continuing support of the GCPL Foundation and event sponsors who make all of this possible.”
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library gifts books free of charge to children from birth to age five. The Greene County Public Library Foundation became Dolly’s partner in 2013, and this year the Imagination Library in Greene County neared 600,000 total books delivered to local children and surpassed 12,000 local graduates.
“The Imagination Library inspires a love of reading at a young age, encourages kindergarten readiness, and fosters family bonds to last a lifetime,” said Colón. “Families who enroll their children in the Imagination Library open up a world of possibilities through their local library’s ongoing support and resources.”
