New Name, Same Personal Care at Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy

When CedarCare Village Pharmacy opened for business in 2019, its mission was to provide a one-stop shop for all pharmacy and medical needs for Cedarville and Eastern Greene County residents. With the transfer of ownership to Dr. Katie Perry, a 2019 graduate of Cedarville’s Doctor of Pharmacy program, expected around June 19, patrons can expect the same level of service at the pharmacy that will be known as Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy.

This will be Perry’s third independent pharmacy. She is also the owner of Germantown Pharmacy and Camden Pharmacy.

“The residents of Cedarville have grown accustomed to quality and personal care with their pharmacy and medical needs through CedarCare. This same expectation will continue with Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy,” said Perry. “I worked at CedarCare before I opened the pharmacy in Germantown, and during my time in Cedarville, I loved being a part of the community. Coming back is exciting for me as I can continue serving the great people in the Village of Cedarville.”

Dr. Jacob Shaffer, a 2019 graduate of Cedarville’s Doctor of Pharmacy program, will serve as the pharmacist at Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy. Most recently, Shaffer served at Dayton Children’s Hospital and brings excellent experience in pediatric pharmacy. He also was an intern during his college years for Walgreens in Dayton.

Except for the new name, Perry doesn’t expect her customers in Cedarville to notice any change in the level of service from the pharmacy staff. If anything, Perry is hoping to introduce new initiatives that will strengthen the healthcare options for the Cedarville community.

“It is my goal to provide the same level of service that the Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy customers have grown to appreciate,” said Perry. “I am confident our patrons will enjoy their relationship with Dr. Shaffer and his staff as they will be focused on caring well for our patients.”

Perry expects several of the current staff members will continue working at Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy. She does anticipate sprinkling in some new staff members who will also align with the mission and values of the pharmacy.

Cedarville Hometown Pharmacy will continue providing medication services, including prescription refills and transfers, a diabetes-specialized care center, health screenings, immunizations, travel vaccinations, and multi-dose packaging. Typical over-the-counter medications for pain, cold and allergies, vitamins, oral health products, feminine hygiene, infant care, and first aid products will continue to be a staple of the new pharmacy.
