Hi, my name is Melissa Adams. I am the Executive Director/Founder of Hope Hub Xenia. I am a Mental Health First Responder, Peer Recovery Supporter, Pastor, Xenia graduate, and a mother of 2. My greatest accomplishment though would certainly have to be creating a life I love to live. Let me explain a bit more.
In 2014, I was arrested again and put in the county jail. That trip was the beginning of the longest journey I have ever taken - coming to the end of myself! I was addicted to drugs for over 20 years and could never figure out how to live free of them. That was until I learned that what Johann Hari said was so true. He said the opposite of addiction isn't sobriety, The opposite of addiction is connection. What I found at the end of myself was the power of surrender. It was here that I was able to experience true freedom from addiction. It was also here that I found the greatest challenge I would ever face - learning how to create a life I could love to live.
In 2018, I graduated from my recovery program and moved back to Xenia, OH. That is when the power of connection became very real in my life. Not long after moving back, I began working at Coffee Hub and soon became the manager there. About a year after I started working there, Cynthia, the owner, and I began our non-profit, Hope Hub Xenia, a transformational living facility for women. So many phenomenal things have happened in my life since 2018 that I haven't room to list them all. More than anything I get to do now, the single greatest gift in my life has been the gift of choice. This has so greatly impacted my life that I am unable to keep it to myself.
