This beautiful group of people from Greene, Inc. are led by Matthew Gaines. They are the BEST Group (Basic Employment Skills Training). They volunteer in the bistro every fourth Wednesday and we are so very grateful they selected One Bistro as their place to learn and serve! Thank you BEST Group . . . you are the best!

June started off strong with this fantastic group of young people volunteering from Patterson Park Church. They worked hard and were a joy to have in the bistro. Patterson Park has been a terrific partner and supporter of One Bistro since our opening in 2016. We are so thankful for their faithfulness.

We ended the month with this special group of volunteers from Generate Youth Camp. This group consisted of five youth, three adults and one little one who loves to help. They volunteered a Tuesday through Thursday. They worked hard with great focus and passion. These kids have a heart for service; they were a bright light in the bistro that week.

THANK YOU,

HICKORY HILL POULTRY RANCH FOR YOUR VERY GENEROUS EGG DONATION!

WE ARE GRATEFUL

These adorable girls had a lemonade stand with a few other friends and wanted to donate what they made to One Bistro to help feed their neighbors!

Together they donated $89.16! Shown: Abby, Drenna & Zayah Not shown: Riley, Emma & Layla

Nice job girls! Love your ambition and generosity!!

We recently received a grant from Dayton Workforce Partnerships. We are so grateful for their grant which helps us feed our neighbors and sustain our pay-what-you-can model. If you are not familiar with Dayton Workforce Partnerships, you can learn more about them at www.daytonwp.com

Thank you to X.T.A.R. – Xenia Community Schools’ elementary gifted program for your generous $210 donation. WOW, we are honored to be selected as your charity of choice. Donna Shaw, Gifted Coordinator, said, “Our students believe your organization is worthy of this donation and that the money will be used for the greater good of our community. Please accept his donation on behalf of the X.T.A.R. Young Entrepreneurs.”

One Bistro fan, Lisa Caldwell (who owned Nonnie Waller's Parlor & Nonnie's Traditional Southern), recently hosted a fun and unique way to raise funds for One Bistro. One Bistro earned 60% of every dollar spent! The event featured a curated selection of Lisa's unique finds she amassed over the last 30 years. There were items including still-tagged clothing, trims, pillow-top boxes, jewelry, vases and fabrics from around the world. Thank you, Lisa, for thinking of One Bistro and for your generous donation of $600!

“Volunteering at One Bistro reminded me of the numerous blessings in my life, and all that I am thankful for. Further, everyone working on this day treated me with incredible kindness and graciousness. In my professional career as a nurse, I hope to treat my patients with the same gratitude and selflessness that One Bistro’s volunteers possess and exercise so effortlessly.“

Heidi Seale, Kettering College, Senior Nursing Program

While we encourage volunteers to sign up online in advance, anyone may stop in during café hours to see if help is needed. Groups are also welcome to serve together. Email us and we’ll find the perfect opportunity for your group!

Thank you to our June

Community Meal VOLUNTEER groups.

You make our evening so very special.

Thank you to the following people, organizations, businesses and churches

for sponsoring our Community Meals

in April, May & June!

“Prior to volunteering, I did a little bit of research and absolutely loved the mission behind this organization. During my time here, I realized that each individual stood by that mission and aimed to provide the best service they could to everyone who walked through those doors.”

Makensie Wasson, Kettering College, Senior Nursing Program

One Bistro is celebrating National Everybody Eats WeekAugust 21 through August 27th. This is a nationally coordinated campaign dedicated to building community, ensuring food security and dignity for all and helping consumers understand the power they have in ending hunger in their neighborhood.

One Bistro is dedicated to providing a place where our neighbors eat and come together as one community. We are committed to our pay-what-you-can model using suggested prices of $6 to $9, especially during tough times when many are struggling to put food on their table.

During this week, we will

·       have a special group of Community Heroes serving each day

·       have pay-it-forward donations matched throughout the week

·       hope to gather 250 Friends of One Bistro

·       welcome several Food Security Champions

Watch your email in the next few weeks for a special edition highlighting our Community Heroes and other details on how to become a Friend of One Bistro and much more!
