MY HEART IS FULL!

A MESSAGE FROM SHAYNE

The world is a crazy place right now, but… God is in control. As I recover from my surgery, I am humbled beyond words at the sheer number of you who have sent messages, cards and words of encouragement and prayers. I want to thank each and every one who has prayed for Greg and me through this surgery and my recovery and who have let us know in a myriad of ways that we are in your thoughts and prayers. I am grateful for the friends and connections that we have made in our community and I look forward to being back with you all soon. I need to say a special THANK YOU to the wonderful ladies who are covering for me as I heal: Barb, Karen, Marcy, Margie and Von are all dear friends to me and to One Bistro. These ladies are amazing women of God and I ask you to join with me in lifting them up in prayer over the next few weeks. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. God is good.

We recently we asked one of our out of state monthly donors how he heard about One Bistro and came to support us. This was his response.

“I have a friend in Wilmington who's a regular and took me there for lunch last time I visited from MA. The food was great and her excitement + your mission resonated with me so I wanted to help. You're doing God's work---blessings on you.”  Joe

"Always wonderful food, great servers and a wonderful ministry to the hungry and homeless." Kenton

While we encourage volunteers to sign up online in advance, anyone may stop in during café hours to see if help is needed. Groups are also welcome to serve together. Email us and we’ll find the perfect opportunity for your group!

One Bistro partnered with McKinley School by donating the food for their Family Literacy Night. A wonderful team of moms and student teachers showed up at the bistro to assemble boxed meals. Stephanie Johnston, Parent Volunteer Coordinator for XCS, was passionately at the helm in making this partnership happen and in pulling together this fabulous group of volunteers. We boxed up 200 meals and finished in record time!

"Always a gourmet meal with a family atmosphere. Can't beat their business model of giving back to the community. Everyone eats!" Lindsay

More Blessings

National Random Acts of Kindness is celebrated every February 17. It originated in 1995 in Denver, Colorado and has since spread across the world. The idea behind this day is to make the world a little brighter and better through kind gestures, words and actions. Students at Arrowood Elementary School decorated place-mats with encouraging messages to be used at One Bistro’s Community Meal.

Katie Cronin, Kindergarten Teacher, said, “Although we will never meet the people who received our messages, we hope this simple act can have a deep impact. You can see from the kids’ smiles that they took pride in their work and definitely felt rewarded as well.”

Our crowd really enjoyed the place-mats, appreciated the kind gesture and many took their place-mat home with them. Thank you Arrowood Elementary School!

Thank you, Robert and James, for repairing our chairs in the bistro, making it safer for all. One Bistro cannot do what it does without the help of so many wonderful people investing their time and talent in numerous ways. We are grateful!

This beautiful family made a New Year resolution to volunteer, together, once a month as a family. We love that they selected One Bistro as one of their organizations. Mom was serving, son was hosting and dad was washing dishes. Thank you for choosing us!

Thank you, Audrey!
Legacy Christian high school student, Audrey Stanley, recently volunteered her time to design our chalkboard for the month of March. She chose clovers, basketballs and daffodils to accent the menu and information. #beautifuljob #firstfour #grateful
