CDC Releases New Framework to Monitor COVID-19 Levels in Communities
Greene County has been experiencing a rapid downward trend of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations for the past several weeks. Due to the general improvement in community COVID-19 indicators, Greene County Public Health supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) new Community Level framework.
This new tool will help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest data. Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area. As of February 24, 2022, Greene County was designated “medium” in the CDC’s current framework. This level will be monitored and updated weekly. This community level framework is different than the one that has been used to determine levels of transmission based on the
positivity rate, in which Greene County remains high, even though cases are declining.
Public Health along with our State and Federal partners will continue to monitor the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and make revised recommendations should conditions warrant. For more information about the CDC’s new Community Level framework visit
