Hi Leader,
Happy New Year! I sure hope it turns out to be a happy year for you. Judging from research on people's mental health, the past two years have really taken a toll and happiness is in short supply while mental illness, "dis-ease" if you will, is climbing steadily. In this year's monthly leadership letter, my goal is to provide you with valuable information and resources to improve your life personally and professionally.
Since it is January, though maybe a bit cliché, I want to remind you of a simple tool to help you meet your goals. When you set your goals, be sure to use the S.M.A.R.T. acrostic. My latest blog post puts a new twist on this reliable old method. I hope that you find it helpful. SMART2.0 Goals.
If you have not yet done so, set yourself up for success by downloading my free PowerBank exercise from AndersonLR.com. In order to achieve your goals you need energy. This exercise will provide you with 15 energy sources that I guarantee will help you stay focused and moving forward.
Lastly, do what you are designed to do. Spend as much of your time as possible doing things that are closely aligned to your top talents. That is where you will find the most joy and success. I've included some research from Gallup in the links in this letter. You can also read about your talents on my blog. If you owned a Ferrari you wouldn't take it off-road. You are much more valuable and impressive than a Ferrari, so, treat yourself at least as well as you would treat a Ferrari.
I just started offering 6-week classes on Positive Intelligence. I'll tell you more about that in future letters. My first class is full. Here's a link to the Positive Intelligence assessment. It's another free resource for you. If you take the assessment and don't mind, send me your results. I'd love to see them and talk with you about them. Maybe, you'll want to join my next class and get to work on taking control of your brain and your emotions so you really do have a happy new year!
