XACC Awards Dinner Celebrates Community Service in Asian Setting
The 68th Annual XACC Awards Dinner at Greene County Fairgrounds Assembly Hall on February 25 included a lifetime achievement award for a famous name in Xenia education and medicine. Other well-known Xenia names as well as new faces crossed the red carpet to garner awards.
A crowd of almost 250 enjoyed networking, dinner and the awards ceremony in an Asian-themed setting. Attendees entered the Fairgrounds through a canopy of blossoming cherry trees, networked under a towering pagoda, and dined under glowing Chinese lanterns.
XACC President and CEO Alan Liming said 2017 is a time of renewal, with the unveiling of a new Chamber website and renovation of the Chamber Conference Room. He joined Board Chair Kraig Hagler in thanking all the Chamber volunteers for their service in the past year.
Dr. Robert P. Dillaplain won the Torrence Award for lifetime achievement. A physician and long-time member of the Xenia Community School Board, he was honored for his years of unselfish service to education, health, recreation and more.
Blair Davis of Montgomery Insurance & Investments won the S.L. Stephan Award for her hard work, dedication and skill in planning Chamber events and First Friday and other downtown events for the past two years.
The winner of the Russ Remick Retail Services Award was WBZI Radio, honored for its commitment to local programming and community support. Owner Joe Mullins accepted the award for the station.
Frontier Technology won the Dodds Monument-Industrial Award for their importance in the Xenia industrial landscape and their innovative manufacturing, which has saved lives. Project Manager Treva Janzow accepted the award.
Gabrielle Enright of WHIO-TV won the Barbara Zajbel Xenia Ambassador Award. She was honored for her donation of time to many community events and her devotion to promoting Greene County in her on-air reports.
Christy Fielding was named the winner of the Robert G. Babb Award. Past Board Chair Linda Johannes presented her the award as the person who made the most significant contribution to the Chamber and to her term as chair.
Gabrielle Enright of WHIO-TV and Jim Harworth of Harworth Tire & Auto shared the Master of Ceremonies responsibilities for the Dinner. The Chamber thanks them as well as our sponsors.
