S. Columbus Street Bridge closing June 21st for replacement project

Work will begin on the replacement of the S. Columbus Street Bridge over the Shawnee Creek Tributary Stream, immediately north of the Ohio-To-Erie Trail Bike Path beginning Monday, June 21, 2021.

The City of Xenia secured grant funding from the State of Ohio to replace the current structure with a 20’ x 10’ box culvert to preserve the integrity of the roadway crossing for years to come.  While the replacement work is being done, the S. Columbus Street Bridge will be closed to through traffic. Construction activity is expected to last through September of 2021 and during that time motorists will be asked to follow the posted detour. The posted detour will generally follow E. Main Street to S.
