Flower and Herb Boxes

Our beautiful flower and herb boxes were designed and planted by Linda Sutton and Kathy Lewis, and they look stunning!! These ladies donated their labor of love. And, Linda donated all of the plants and materials in loving memory of her son, Brett Lemon. Thank you for beautifying the bistro's storefront and for your generosity. Chef is looking forward to using the herbs, too.

"What an awesome concept... The food was amazing, the portion sizes were perfect. The price of the food was very reasonable; they also encourage you to pay a meal forward but not pushy at all. $6 will feed a whole meal to someone. Thank you One Bistro for your services to Xenia!"

LaShonna & Buffie

LaShonna is a retired veteran who served in the military and was wounded in Iraq. Since she left the military, she has looked for ways to continue to give back to her community. That is how she and her wife, Buffie, came to be the adoptive parents of TEN children, all from Ohio! A little over a year ago, LaShonna heard about One Bistro through her dog walking business and Diane Dixon. She was curious about the concept of a community café but didn't have much of a chance to get involved until COVID hit. All in a moment, her business stopped and their families finances were stretched to the breaking point. When One Bistro started offering family-sized, take home, heat & eat meals, several people sponsored LaShonna and Buffie and purchased meals for them so that they could continue to put food on the table. They went from serving to being served but because of One Bistro's model, they were treated with dignity and respect.

Since the bistro has opened back up, LaShonna, Buffie and their family have become regulars at Wednesday night Community Meals. They have a diverse family, the kids raging from 3 years old to 19 years old. "There are a lot of places we don't fit in," says LaShonna, "but at One Bistro we fit. Buffie and I try to give our kids as many tools as we can to help them through their lives. Finding community and a support network and a sense of belonging is invaluable, and that is what we have found at the bistro." Now their 15 year old is planning to start volunteering regularly.

A message LaShonna wishes she could share about One Bistro with other members of the community, "No matter your situation, there is a place for you there. There is a place for everyone!"

Chef Greg's Homemade Ice Cream

Several years ago, Chef Greg became inspired to make his own "homemade" ice cream at One Bistro. He realized he had an opportunity to share something he enjoys making (and eating) with the community...and we are so thankful!! He is constantly on the lookout for new and interesting flavors. His flavor combinations are inspired by friends and family, cookies, donuts, random thoughts, interesting and limited edition products he sees, and even other ice creams on the market. He doesn't feel that he has made any completely outrageous flavors, but he does get some raised eyebrows about his maple bacon ice cream!! Other top sellers recently are reeses max, butter pecan and cookies and cream. Other than vanilla, which is Chef's favorite flavor, whatever kind he is making at the moment is his second favorite.

If you haven't tried Chef Greg's homemade ice cream yet, we invite you in for a dip!
June 9th is National Ice Cream Day!!
And if you have an idea for a new flavor, let us know!!

"First time diner at One Bistro! We had no idea about the mission behind the restaurant until we sat down, so that was really cool. Great place to gather to eat and help give back to the community- especially after times were tough in 2020! I believe everyone in there helping was a volunteer so major props to all those involved! :) Great place and good food/atmosphere!"
