Historical Society to Resume Regular Hours
As of June 1, 2021, the Greene County Ohio Historical Society will resume its regular open hours of Tuesday through Saturday at its museum complex, 74 West Church St. “We have been open to the public only three days a week plus appointments since June 16, 2020,” said Executive Director Catherine Wilson. “Everyone has been enduring the present; it's time to take yourself for a short vacation in the past.”
Weekdays the museum will be open from 12 noon to 4 PM, and on Saturday from 12-3:30 PM. The Historical Society consists of three buildings: the 1799 Galloway log house, furnished as if it were 1803; the Trebein-Flynn house, which portrays the time period of 1870-1920; and the 3-floor Brantley Carriage House, with a variety of exhibits on transportation, medicine, and what life was like in Greene County in earlier years.
Expanded hours will arrive just in time for Greene County History Week, which will take place June 13-19, 2021. Regular monthly gatherings of GCHS are slated to resume in July, on the second Monday of each month, featuring a variety of speakers and topics with something to interest all people.
