Our Neighbors' News

Greetings Dear Friends!
We hope this newsletter finds you feeling well and enjoying the warmer temperatures. Spring is an amazing time of year when the outside world begins to wake up from its winter nap and burst forth with color! The fresh spring rains creating amazing rainbows reminds us of God’s faithfulness and promises. The new growth of green grass, flowers galore, new baby birds & animals is another reminder of new life – transformation and hope!

The One Bistro Team has so much to be grateful for and so much hope is on the horizon. The last 14-months was pretty uncertain for many, especially those in the restaurant business. We are asked all the time how One Bistro has fared through the Pandemic. The short answer, very well and we are very thankful. First, our team stayed healthy which allowed us to stay open and feed our neighbors! Second, we honored our commitment not to raise our suggested, basic meal price of $6.00 even though some foods were hard to find at times and food costs were rising rapidly. We stay committed to offering Community Meal every Wednesday evening feeding, at times, in excess of 160 folks during our grab-and-go days. The bottom line, we stayed prayerful, faithful and obedient to what God called us to do and the mission he gave us – to provide a place where our neighbors eat and come together as one community. All in all, our sales were down 30% and our donations were up 30%. Coincidence? No! We absolutely felt the hand of God upon One Bistro and knew He had shown His favor upon us through the goodness of our community! That’s YOU! Whether you gave $1, $10, $100, $1,000 or a grant of $10k…or came in to eat or ordered carryout…YOU were the reason One Bistro fared so well through the last 14-months! We truly do have the best community ever and we are grateful for each and every one of you. Our hearts are full. God bless you all.

The One Bistro Team

We are so thankful for your support and involvement in HIS mission:

"To provide a place where our neighbors eat and come together as one community."

Xenia United Presbyterian Church

Xenia United Presbyterian Church (now combined from Xenia Memorial and Xenia Westminster) has a long history of supporting local missions in the Xenia community. One Bistro's mission of feeding Xenia's "neighbors" is very dear to their hearts. Many of the group who recently sponsored and volunteered at a Community Meal have been aware of One Bistro or have been involved for many years, however, it was Gerald Randall (of blessed memory) who had the idea to sponsor and volunteer for the Wednesday night Community Meals. "The mission of never turning anybody away is a wonderful thing," Carolyn Jackson, a Xenia United Presbyterian volunteer says. "It is a great opportunity for people who eat at the bistro to be able to share in this mission! And our team loves working with Chef Greg and Shayne."

If you would like to sponsor or volunteer for a Community Meal, "sign up early!" Carolyn also suggests. Xenia United Presbyterian Church had hoped to sponsor three Community Meals this year, but spots have filled up quickly! They will be in again to sponsor and volunteer on July 12th and are already looking ahead to 2022!!
