Women In Business - Presenting Lisa Jordan of Providing for Women

Please join us for Women In Business on March 18, 2021 at 11:30 am.  Zoom Information is at bottom of this article.  We look forward to seeing everyone and hearing from Lisa Jordan, Founder of "Providing for Women"

Lisa Jordan is a lifelong resident of Ohio and the Founder of Providing for Women, a local non-profit with a mission to distribute menstrual hygiene products to women and girls in need throughout Greene County. Along with her daughters and a small team of volunteers, Lisa has distributed over 500,000 pieces of feminine hygiene products since founding Providing for Women.

Lisa first learned about Period Poverty, the lack of access to period products after watching a documentary on Facebook about how homeless women cope with their periods. The documentary touched her heart, and she thought, “Why have I never thought about period products being a need for those struggling financially?” She immediately felt called to do something. In August of 2017, Lisa shared with her family, church family, and friends her desire to help women in need of period products within her community.

She then began collecting products and funds from anyone who wanted to contribute. Her thought was she would donate the items to a local shelter or pantry.  However, she found the need was great and would continue as long as Period Poverty exists.

In November of 2017, Providing for Women became an official 501(c)(3), and before the year ended, they distributed over 2,000 pieces of feminine hygiene products to over 100 women.

The simple idea of distributing dignity to women has become Lisa’s passion. She hopes someday Period Poverty will not exist, but she will continue to collect and distribute these necessary items to those in need until then.

Lisa has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and has been employed as a support contractor at Wright Patterson AFB for over 28 years. She is currently employed full-time as a Systems Analyst for Quantech Services, a Department of Defense Contractor. Lisa and her husband Rob have seven children and four grandchildren. Lisa enjoys Sunday dinners with her family, photography, and tending to her goats and chickens.
