Finished! Second Street water tower receives logo

You may have noticed the beautiful blue water tower on W. Second Street has a new look!

The tower was recently painted with a 'Xenia City of Hospitality' logo. Crews worked on the logo over the course of three days.

The City of Xenia appreciates the great care our Water Division takes in maintaining our towers and water lines in order to deliver great service to citizens.

Show your support for Xenia Police Division

There is a new way to show your support for Xenia Police Division. Until Saturday, August 15th at 11:59 p.m., customized shirts are being sold online and prices range from $19 to $27.

Just Ink Tees has made the decision to donate a portion of the sales to the Xenia Police Division in order to help them purchase safety equipment. "We want to make sure our first responders have the equipment they need to keep themselves and our community members safe," they said on the fundraiser web page.

If you would like to buy a shirt, you can do so online here.

One Bistro encouraging Xenians to get involved during National Everybody Eats Week

One Bistro is challenging Xenians to E.A.T. during the week of August 23 - 29. That is National Everybody Eats Week, a time meant to bring attention to building community, ensuring food security and dignity for individuals, while helping consumers understand how they can help end hunger in their neighborhood.

Food insecurity affects more than 40 million people in the United States, meaning 1 in 8 households struggle to provide food for its members.

One Bistro is asking Xenians to help them in their mission to provide food for those who are in need. People can help by:

  • E - Ensuring someone eats: by dining at One Bistro or donating online to support the work they do
  • A - Advance the cause: by getting involved at One Bistro
  • T - Take the pledge: to help build a strong community where everyone has enough to eat

Self-response for 2020 Census extended to October 31

MAKE XENIA COUNT!

The 2020 Census count is still ongoing, and the self-response deadline has been extended to October 31! Please respond if you haven’t already – this will help to make sure that you and your community are properly represented in Congress, the State legislature, and in State/Federal funding allocations.

Approximately 68.8% of Xenia residents have responded to the Census thus far, compared to 72.8% of all Greene County residents. In some Xenia neighborhoods, the response rate is less than 60%. It is important to increase these response rates, because Census results determine the Congressional and State legislature representation and funding for projects such as schools, roads, and emergency services. The Census is used to distribute more than $675 billion in federal funds to states, counties, and communities.

The Census is a once-every-10-year count of every U.S. resident. 2020 is a Census year and, in the wake of COVID-19, the U.S. Census Bureau is extending the period of self-response to October 31.

The City of Xenia has been working to help promote response to the 2020 Census along with the Greene County Complete Count Committee. You may have noticed signs posted on some public properties as a reminder.

Responding to the Census takes only a few minutes and can be done online at https://2020census.gov/.
