5th Annual Healthy Halloween Hustle Supports Xenia Community Schools Classroom Grants Program

The Xenia Community Schools Foundation hosts a variety of fundraising events throughout the year in support of its Classroom Grants Program. Participants in and shirt sponsors of the recent Healthy Halloween Hustle, a virtual event extending throughout the month of October, helped support the Foundation's Classroom Grants Program for Xenia Community Schools. This year the Foundation has awarded 24 grants, totaling almost $25,000.00, for special projects in the Xenia Community Schools. These include Muse Machine performances at WMS, Chemistry Club presentations at the elementary schools and several library book purchase grants. The grants also help support STEM projects such as First Lego League and the Elementary S.T.E.A.M. Day/Science Olympiad. A number of grants this year provide resources for positive behavioral support, inclusion and “calming” resources in classrooms.

The annual event, a collaborative venture between the Foundation and Xenia Community Schools, was virtual again this year. The event, while a fundraiser, was also intended to promote healthy activities during the month of October. Participants ran, walked or treaded one to three 5K events on their own or in groups. Those who successfully complete their distance commitment were awarded bronze, silver or gold medals. Every registrant received a long-sleeved shirt with the event logo on the front and sponsors on the back.

The Xenia Community Schools Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization focused on providing support to the Xenia Community Schools through funds for classroom grants, scholarships and by hosting the annual Xenia Community Schools Hall of Honor Dinner and Induction Ceremony.
