Clark State College for Kids and Teens

College for Kids and Teens is a summer outreach program that offers individual classes and day camps for students in grades K-12. Each class provides a great opportunity for students to explore new areas of interest, stretch their imagination or cultivate a skill! Activities are conducted in a non-graded environment where personal growth and development are encouraged. Classes are limited and are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Combine the morning and afternoon sessions to create an all day option. Week 1: June 17-21 Grades 7-12

PRE-MED CAMP 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Several hands-on, information-filled, fast-paced sessions that will give participants a chance to see and hear what it’s like to prepare for a medical career. Activities will include dissections, microbiology research projects, medical equipment demonstrations and instruction from professors and medical professionals. Register for the afternoon Geospatial Technology session to create an all day option.
GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY 12:30-2 p.m.How do we understand and measure the geography of our world? Explore personal and collective geographies through hands on activities with GPS (Global Positioning Systems), GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and your own brain! Register for the morning Pre-Med session to create an all day option. 

Week 2: June 24-28 Grades 3-6
CATAPULT PAINTING 9 - 11:30 a.m. Catapult painting is when science, math and art collide! You will combine your new engineering skills with your artistic creativity to build the most efficient catapult to paint a wall canvas. Register for the afternoon session of Sprout House to create an all day option. 
SPROUT HOUSE 12 - 2:30 p.m. Become a master gardener and learn about plants and flowers native to Ohio at our Sprout House camp. You will also have the opportunity to begin your very own herb garden and design a futuristic flower pot.  Register for the morning session of Catapult Painting to create an all day option. 

Week 3: July 8-12 Grades K-2
DANCE, STORIES AND ART 9 - 11:30 a.m. In Dance, Stories and Art you will dance, bring stories to life, do art projects, sing songs, make masks and create an informal performance for family and friends. Register for the afternoon session of Pattern Photography to create an all day option.
PATTERN PHOTOGRAPHY 12:30-2:30 p.m. Learn about patterns through photography while designing your very own pattern find photobook. Great for young readers and creative artists.  Register for the morning session of Dance, Stories and Art to create an all day option. 

Week 4: July 15-19 Grades 7-12
PRE-MED 2.0 CAMP 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Students will learn critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrive. Skills covered in this course include first aid; choking relief; and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest. Specific skills include: First aid basics, Medical emergencies, Injury emergencies, Environmental emergencies, Preventing illness and injury, CPR and AED use, and Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies. Upon completion of this course, students will receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card that is valid for 2 years. Course will be taught by experienced local Firefighter/Paramedic, providing real-world application and discussion of the skills being learned. Register for the afternoon session of Sports Science to create an all day option. 
SPORTS SCIENCE 12:30 - 3 p.m. Through a series of case studies and project-based learning activities, you will learn about the branch of medicine that deals with physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise.  Register for the morning session of Pre-Med 2.0 to create an all day option.
