Election Day Workers NEEDED!

Each year, thousands of Ohioans play an important role in our democracy by helping to operate polling places. Ohio’s precinct election officials (PEOs) work hard to facilitate the voting process.

Local business employees who meet the qualifications are encouraged to participate.  They must be United States citizens who are qualified electors in the county in which they plan to work as a PEO, must have no felony convictions, and may not be running as a candidate for the election in which they are working.

Benefits for business owners and employees to participate include:

  • Business owners might use this time as a team-building exercise.
  • Employees receive a stipend, and some offices choose to donate the stipends earned to a community charity. Employees perform their civic duty and become familiar with their communities.
  • Government agencies have the opportunity to continue community outreach.

The Secretary of State’s office has also created a web widget that provides a direct link to the PEO recruitment page on the Secretary of State’s website: http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/elections/electionsofficials/electOffPubs/Widgets.aspx

All precinct election officials must attend a training session.  Training date and time is to be determined.
