Greene County Parks & Trails Hosts Fishing Derby

Greene County Parks & Trails and Bellbrook Sugarcreek Optimist Club: Grab your ROD and keep it REEL

Greene County Parks & Trails with the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Optimist Club invites everyone to angle for some summer fun with its free Grab your ROD and keep it REEL Fishing Derby from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 15, at Spring Lakes Park, 2191 Ferry Rd., Bellbrook.

The event is catch-and-release and open to those six years and older. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.; Passport to Fishing Stations sponsored by the Ohio Division of Wildlife open at 9 a.m. An awards presentation and free picnic lunch for all participants will follow the fishing derby.

Fifty rods and reels will be given to anglers 16 years and younger that complete the Passport to Fishing program involving hands-on learning stations sponsored by the Ohio Division of Wildlife.  The first 100 anglers registered for the fishing derby will receive a fishing goody bag.

The event is co-sponsored by the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Optimist Club and the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

Spring Lakes Park is routinely stocked with fish; participants could catch catfish, bass, bluegill, crappies or carp.
