Ever wonder about that "little shop that could" (survive years of retail trends and economies both good and bad)??? Tim Sontag has owned and operated Xenia Shoe and Leather Repair on Xenia's Main Street since 1982. You read that right... 37 years! That makes Xenia Shoe and Leather Repair one of the longest running retail businesses on Main Street. Tim, who always wanted to work with his hands, originally considering shoe making. After an internship in Akron, he transitioned into shoe repair. With a strong demand for his services, Tim has added six employees over the years. This further stands as a testament to the quality of their work. Any attempt to list the menu of their repair services will fall short. We encourage you to reach out to them to see if they can repair it... odds are, if it has to do with footwear or is made of leather, they can fix it!
In the 80's as shoe stores around Xenia began dropping shoe lines from their inventories (like Sol's Store (think Sol Arnovitz) - where you could buy Red Wing Shoes), Tim gradually added the retail side of his operation. Now they carry a truly fantastic assortment of shoes, boots, and sandals. Find Birkenstock, Bogs, Brooks, Chaco, Dansko, Keen, Merril, Minnetonka, Red Wing, Rockport, Vasque, Vibram Five Fingers as well as wool socks, shoe laces (yes, you can find them here!), belts, bags, polishes, and you can even get your dry cleaning processed here.
To top it all off, Tim Sontag is a state-licensed and board-certified pedorthist, certified and practicing since 1994. If you were wondering, a pedorthist is a professional who has specialized training to modify footwear and employ supportive devices to address conditions which affect the feet and lower limbs.
