Cemetery Symbols and Representations for ages 18+

Cemetery Symbols and Representations for ages 18+ will be held at Xenia Community Library in the Greene County Room on Sat., Apr. 6, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tombstones can provide more information about a deceased ancestor than just their birth and death dates, and can even be unique works of art. In this program, Angie Hoschouer will describe the many symbols used on headstones to represent everything from membership in fraternal and social organizations to a person’s trade, occupation, or religious beliefs. Angie is the Manager of Development and Marketing at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. In addition to marketing, she also works in historical research and actor portrayal. She is a founding member of the Randolph Township Historical Society, and a member of the First Families of Greene County and the Society of Civil War Families of Ohio. This program is co-sponsored by the Greene County Room Local History & Genealogy and the Greene County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.
