First Fridays Season Kicks Off This Friday
Xenia First Fridays will feature plenty of fun and exciting activities and entertainment as the 2018 season kicks off on Friday, May 4th from 5-9pm! Vendors, entertainers, and people of all ages will be enjoying the festivities in downtown Xenia. You won't want to miss out on the excitement planned for our 10th season!
There’s something for everyone to enjoy at multiple locations throughout the night. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us on the courthouse lawn to enjoy live music from the Hathaways. Here you can also enjoy the entertaining juggler and aerialist duo of Up Down Go. Be on the watch for many strolling entertainers downtown and have your camera ready to capture the memories!
Juggler Evan Smith will join the First Fridays party. Dave Davis, a highly talented and entertaining magician, will be strolling the event as well. A crowd favorite, The Amazing Giants stilt-walkers, are sure to bring big fun. Ohio’s Batman will appear for photo ops during the evening. Lucky the Clown will be making his popular balloon creations on W Main St. Dennis Porter will be drawing free caricatures of participants on S Detroit St. Route 68 Vintage Toys and Collectibles, a new downtown Xenia business located at 68 S Detroit St, will have the Walking Dead Rick Grimes Sheriff car for the evening and a special appearance by superhero The War Machine between 6-730pm, adding to the activities downtown!
There will be a special performance by the Xenia High School Jazz Band at 7pm on S Detroit St. The strongmen of ChristStrength Gym will be doing demonstrations of their almost super human strength! While there don’t forget to try out one or both of Xenia Bouncy Castle and Party Rental inflatables or feed the farm animals at the petting zoo. You may also visit the cool animals at Cool Critter’s Outreach.
The Greene County Library Bookmobile will be rolling into First Fridays for the evening. Shop a collection of great reads for kids and teens. Be sure to visit this fun booth, Kra Z Face Painting, for a memorable face painting experience. The caboose will be open at Xenia Station from 5-7pm for anyone that is interested in the railroad’s history. The Flower Stop, in their new location at 72 S Detroit St, will be hosting the First Fridays Silent Auction to raise funds for more activities and entertainment. Stop by and bid on many of the great items available this month.
Visit the popular Cruise-In on N Detroit St to admire cars from all different generations as well as many other activities! Interested in bringing your ride? Cruise to downtown after 3pm when the streets close for the fun.
First Fridays 2018 Title Sponsor, Fisher’s Shop Inc, will be hosting a Truck Show on S Detroit St for truck enthusiasts. The truck show will be located near Devil Wind Brewing, 130 S Detroit St.
Food vendors at the Second Street Food Court seek to please your appetite with a variety of foods from Cork n’ Bottle, Southern Sisters, Sugar Shack, and Bette-Juanita Concessions. A sack-lunch style burger, chips, cookie, and drink will be available from AHOP Burger Burn at the cruise-in area. Welcome Gibbs Ole-Tyme Hamburgers to First Fridays by visiting them near the Fisher’s Shop Truck Show on S Detroit St. They’ll be serving hamburgers, coney dogs, slaw dogs and more! Support our downtown eateries One Bistro-87 E Main St, Coffee Hub-81 E Main St, Flour Bake Shop-13 E Main St, Tables of Contents-30 S Detroit St, Sweets Boutique Bakery & Café-28 E Second St, and Acapulco, Donatos, and The Buck & Ear in Towne Square.
We ask you to support our downtown businesses and eateries as they are what brighten and bring activity to downtown Xenia. Many of the businesses have planned activities and will be holding specials during the event. The Coffee Hub will be hosting open mic night and offering coffee samples; Starving Artist Sale at Sip and Dipity; 25% discount on photo restoration at Eclectic Attic; barbecue rib and boxed lunch specials and other goodies at Sweets Boutique Bakery & Café; Annual Garden Party at Tori Beth & Co and more.
