Greene County Parks & Trails Host “Pumpkin Glow”

GCP&T hosts first “Pumpkin Glow” at Russ Nature Reserve in Beavercreek

Celebrate Autumn at Greene County Parks & Trails’ (GCP&T) first “Pumpkin Glow,” from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28, at Russ Nature Reserve, 2380 Kemp Rd., Beavercreek.

Families will be able to enjoy hundreds of carved pumpkins on display, as well as pumpkin displays, contest to guess the weight of a pumpkin contest, pumpkin slingshot, Halloween selfies with freestanding displays and the chance to carve their own pumpkin for a nominal fee as supplies last.

“This is our first Pumpkin Glow,” says GCP&T Chief Naturalist Cris Barnett, “and were excited to have everyone celebrate the season with us. Russ Nature Reserve is an amazing park to hike, walk and view all of our illuminated pumpkin displays. Families and individuals of all ages will find something to enjoy at the Pumpkin Glow.”

A display of illuminated pumpkins will be placed throughout the Lovely Nature PlayScape at the park for visitors to enjoy a self-guided walk.

A silent auction will be held featuring pumpkins carved by local artists; winning bidders can pick up their pumpkin Saturday after 10 p.m. or Sunday between 1 and 3 p.m. at the park.

The Glen Helen Raptor Center will present a program featuring live owls from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27.

A local food vendor will offer kettle popcorn, beverages and more for a nominal fee.

The event is free and open the public with donations accepted.
