Greene County Parks & Trails Hosts “School’s Out Fishing Derby”

Greene County Parks & Trails invites children to angle for some summer fun with its annual School’s Out Fishing Derby from 9 to noon, Saturday, May 27, at Spring Lakes Park, 2191 Ferry Rd., Bellbrook.

Registration opens at 8 a.m.

Spring Lakes is regularly stocked during the summer months with channel catfish; the ponds offer  crappies, bass, catfish, trout and catfish for angling challenges.

Children between the ages of six and 16 are invited to participate.  Participants must bring their own bait and tackle; a limited amount of bait will be for sale at the Spring Lakes Park Bait House.

Parents may help bait hooks but children should do their own casting and reel in the fish.

Awards will be given for largest fish caught and most fish caught in two age categories.
