Makerspaces have proved to be integral in community and city development. They are physical spaces for open collaboration where people have access to resources, knowledge, professional connections, and tools in order to develop projects and create products or services. They promote open collaboration, idea creation, and prototyping. All makerspaces connect people with each other to provide support, share lessons learned, and at the same time provide tools to boost projects that have an impact.
Cara Kouse is the Innovation and Makerspace Manager at Greene County Public Library. Prior to working for GCPL, Cara spent ten years at Dayton Metro Library in branch management. She began her library career at Ohio University’s Alden Library in the Center for International Collections and Microforms. In addition to her Master’s in Library and Information Science, Cara holds degrees in computer science and applied mathematics.
The seminar is free for XACC Members and $25 for non-XACC members and lasts from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Participants can purchase a boxed lunch for $8.00 or “brown bag” it. Registrations are required and participants must be registered by 5/26/2017. For more information, please contact the Chamber at 372-3591 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
